Rope access

Rope access technicians use ropes and specialized equipment to perform work in areas that are otherwise difficult or impossible to access by any other means. Nouvelle Hauteur is one of the largest Canadian training providers for SRAT levels 1, 2, and 3 certifications offered by the Society of Rope Access Technicians (SPRAT).

Rope Access is a rapidly-growing field of work that implements techniques that were initially developed for use in mountaineering, but that are applied to industrial applications.

Using ropes and specialized equipment, a rope access technician is able to access difficult-to-reach locations to perform specialized tasks such as installations, maintenance, repairs, inspections, etc. This can be a cost-effective alternative to buying expensive machinery or installing permanent structures. Sometimes, it’s the only way that a location can be accessed.

Some applications for rope access include, but are not limited to: bridge inspection and repair, highway transportation safety and protective systems, building maintenance, rooftop and tower access, special mining projects, and many more.

The Society for Rope Access Technicians (SPRAT) was established in the mid 90’s to address the increasing number of organizations who were employing rope access techniques throughout North America. SPRAT developed the standards and best practices for work in the rope access industry throughout North America, as well as the SPRAT Certification Standards that can be found in their publications: Safe Practices for Rope Access Work, and Certification Requirements for Rope Access Work.

Nouvelle Hauteur is a leading North American provider of SPRAT Rope Access training levels 1, 2 and 3, with installations that have been designed to simulate various real-world scenarios in a controlled environment where students are free to develop their skills with our expert instructors on standby. Our state-of-the-art training center is extremely well-equipped with ropes, harnesses, ascenders, descenders, pulleys, and more so that our students never need to wait on someone else.
