Confined Space Basics

Our Basic Confined Space course has been developed for both students and supervisors to teach workers introductory principles on confined space work and the management thereof. The course introduces the basic principles of working in confined spaces, and aids students in becoming familiar with the general provisions affecting work to be performed in confined spaces. It covers federal and provincial regulations, hazards assessment and control methods, permit entry, PPE and general equipment common to work in confined spaces.

Objectives of the training

  • Know the basics of a confined spaces program
  • Understand the confined spaces regulations, standards and procedures
  • Be able to explain hazardous confined spaces, and the risks that workers may encounter inside of them
  • Know the control measures that are available to confined space workers
  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of the entrant, attendant, rescuers, and their supervisors
